Since 2022, The Groves residents have expressed to the Town of Avon Plan Commission members our disapproval over the rezoning of the "Eaton" property located on Beechwood Centre Drive into high density or rental units. The battle upon us now is much more imperative than previous. The current 2025 Steering committee has provided recommendations to the Planning Committee to re-zone this property as "R4" (see redline remarks in this agenda document) thus allowing for the development of apartments, transitional housing, or townhomes which could be turned into rentals. Currently, John Weekly Homes is the Solicitor requesting this immediate rezoning change to develop 76 town homes on this 10.06 acre property.
The remnant 10-acre parcel of land known as the "Eaton property" behind Rural King is unimproved and has remained a C3 zoned property even prior to the development of The Groves at Beechwood Farms nearly two decades ago. The current C3 zoning since at least 2009 is at great risk of being changed without the voices of our neighbors speaking out. Read the redline notes provided by the 2025 Steering Commitee to the Board at the last meeting.
If you're against 150+ more cars traversing The Groves and Harvest Ridge to reach Dan Jones Rd. and 100 North, you need to attend the upcoming meeting to be heard and counted. The continuance of this discussion due to the lack of certainty of the adjacent retention pond has provided a second chance for your voice to be heard and to shape our neighborhood for decades. You do not need to speak nor RSVP to attend but please make your presence at the May 27th meeting provides the support needed to deny this rezoning the ZA 25-02 Beechwood Townhomes proposed.
